The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) developed the Ph.D. in Creative Leadership for Innovation and Change (CLIC) as its first Ph.D. program. This Ph.D. program was one component of UVI’s move to become a more creative institution and a creativity resource for the United States Virgin Islands (USVI). The trans-disciplinary CLIC program is designed to prepare scholars and practitioners from diverse fields to address complex challenges in various sectors using innovative, flexible approaches. Graduates of the program have assumed leadership roles in education, government, and other areas, which underscores the programs’ goal of developing innovative leaders who can drive meaningful change across various sectors. UVI also developed approaches to creativity training and practice that would equip leaders with resources to include creativity in their leadership toolkit. Through its Creativity Lab, UVI trained and supported leaders and organizations internal and external to the university.
