The Impact of E-Learning on English Language Achievement and Attitudes Towards Learning It as a Foreign Language Among Secondary Students
摘要
The use of information and communication technology (ICT) in education is now considered one of the critical indices for measuring the progress of a nation—a point that has been underscored by the COVID-19 pandemic. The primary goal of this research is to develop a virtual classroom through Microsoft Teams targeted at students in the twelfth grade who would be taking up the Information Technology unit from the Action Pack English book during their first semester. The study sought to investigate not only how effective e-learning was on the academic performance of the students but also its influence on their attitude towards the subject. It underscores that without any doubt, ICT should form an integral part of education. Findings showed that e-learning plays a significant role in enhancing academic performance among learners which, in turn, helps in fostering positive attitudes towards learning. Participants included students from Sahab Secondary School for Boys. Among other recommendations include creating awareness on e-learning culture, providing necessary technical support as well as teacher training and a mix between traditional and e-learning approaches for delivery.
