This research paper is about the reference to Lewis Carroll’s novel Alice in Wonderland, using Halliday and Hasan's method of cohesion analysis. This research aims to extract the novel's endophoric reference (anaphoric and cataphoric). The researchers used qualitative methods in their research. Moreover, the data was from Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, published in 2019. This research shows that Alice’s utterances use two aspects of reference: anaphoric and cataphora. There are 153 anaphoric references and 116 cataphora references found in the novel; due to this research, these references are divided into two types, personal and demonstrative. The researchers analyzed Alice's utterances and found that personal reference dominated the text. As mentioned above, the results were conducted after reading the novel and analyzing the utterances of the main character.
