Solid Waste Management is of utmost importance due to the increased environmental issues related to non-degradation and stability over several years. E-wastes are generated due to the enormous amount e-goods used in the present-day technologies and communication devices. A simple electronic device can become useless at any time of the month/year and is same that happens with even advanced devices. Very rare cases, these devices can be recycled and valuable parts are re-used. This results in the accumulation of e-waste in a larger extent and are dumped on the open fields and raise serious environmental issues. This e-wastes consist of valuable yet toxic compounds such as lead, Nickel, polybrominated diphenyl ethers. Real innovations are required to recycle these e-wastes and will definitely create several entrepreneurs. Several trillion dollars of noble metals are dumped in the form of e-wastes causing severe environmental issues. In India, these e-wastes are generated mainly from the used electronic gadgets in the form of mobile phones, computers and display materials. This review aims to present the extent of e-waste generation, current scenarios in disposal and recycling e-wastes and environmental issues.
