In recent years, discussions about sexual diversity have intensified, and it can be said that popular culture, such as manga and anime, influences young people’s gender awareness. This study focuses on the representation of “androgyny” in the manga Princess Knight and aims to clarify how this work impacts the gender awareness and career orientation of female university students. Princess Knight is a fantasy story featuring Sapphire, a protagonist who possesses both a boy’s and a girl’s heart, with themes related to sexual diversity at its core. By analyzing this work, we aim to deepen the understanding of androgyny and clarify how this concept influences students’ gender awareness and future career formation. Through a detailed analysis of the characters and narrative elements depicted in the work, we explore the messages and values related to gender that are represented, seeking to provide new perspectives on how these may influence students’ formation of gender awareness.
