In the epistemic regime of post-truth, the role assigned to emotions is no longer understood as an additional element of knowledge but as a criterion of knowledge. This shift also involves a change in the category of trust, upon which cognitive processes such as learning and listening are based. Drawing on three examples of contemporary Italian politics, this chapter reflects on the evolution of the category of trust, increasingly understood as emotional synchronisation and tuning. It argues that today, mechanisms of trust are no longer based on dynamics of evaluation and judgment but on projective and affective processes.
