Analytical View on the Interplay Between Population Growth, Digital Connectivity, and E-Commerce Within the V4 Countries
摘要
The aim of this research is to analyse the relationship between population growth, digital connectivity and e-commerce within the V4 countries (Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic). We focused on testing two hypotheses that assumed a statistically significant correlation, namely between population growth and digital connectivity, and between digital connectivity and e-commerce. The data used are from secondary sources, namely the Eurostat database (2021, 2022, 2023). The results indicate a negative correlation between digital connectivity and population growth and a slightly positive correlation between e-commerce and digital connectivity. The results did not prove to be statistically significant and therefore the study did not provide adequate evidence to support the hypotheses. For future research, it is essential to consider, especially for policy makers and for businesses, the variables that influence the development of e-commerce within the V4. These are external factors that can help to gain a deeper understanding of the issue, such as demographic factors or generational differences, technological infrastructure or other.
