Communication Setting and Skills on the Telephone
摘要
Telephone consultation in primary care is a valid and widely used method in clinical practice. When we talk about telephone consultation, we are referring to a structured method of interaction with the patient which, as is evident, cannot be compared to an in-person medical visit or to a medical video consultation. It is, therefore, essential to know and recognize the communication differences inherent to telephone consultation to guarantee the safety and effectiveness of the consultation itself. Likewise, it is essential to know the relevant aspects of the primary care context. Therefore, in this chapter, we analyze the peculiar aspects of telephone consultation, providing the reader with theoretical, but above all practical and quick-use tools for daily clinical practice.
