Remote Consultation and Telemedicine for Musculoskeletal Diseases in Primary Care
摘要
Musculoskeletal disorders impact the muscle, bone, joints, and connective tissue. Some of the most prevalent musculoskeletal disorders include osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, and low back pain. Remote consultation and telemedicine are emerging as a potential area of focus for the diagnosis and management of these conditions. This chapter discusses existing academic literature on this topic drawing on findings from recent systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Moreover, this chapter provides an overview for the practicing clinician on how to approach these consultations. Importantly, there is a significant lack of academic pursuit in areas of remote consultation and telemedicine in relation to some musculoskeletal disorders and we call on the academic and clinical community to address the absence of evidence.
