Remote consultation is rapidly scaling up, and given the conditions of healthcare professional shortage and lack of resources, further catalyzed and augmented by the COVID-19 outbreak, it is going to represent a modality of consultation broadly used worldwide. Healthcare professionals, in particular, primary care physicians and general practitioners, need to know that remote consultation is an opportunity in difficult times and develop skills to manage safely and effectively remote consultations and triage, either by video or phone. The first step is to recognize that remote consultation is a real medical consultation with its rules and features. In this chapter, we will provide our readers with the core skills to manage a consultation held from a distance.
