Norwegian Wood and the Emergence of Murakamian Existentialism
摘要
Norwegian Wood is not only a popular and tragic love story but also a profoundly existential piece of work that brings to the fore Murukamian existentialism that is inherently hopeful, compassionate, therapeutic, and emotionally intelligent, for it represents a very active style in an existential tradition that reminds us that approaching social reality in a nihilistic manner does not outline its complete picture. Dealing with challenges at hand, approached through fiction, can also be meaningful, for it can help build determination to seek all relevant and highly personalized therapeutic methods and techniques to help us provide emotional support to others suffering from distressing situations.
