The average annual cost between 2002 and 2019 for implementing the species recovery program for the Kihansi Spray Toad was $404,590. The largest single expenditure was the establishment and operation of the captive breeding facilities in the United States and Tanzania, followed by the monitoring of key indicators, chytrid fungus, environmental contaminants, and the reintroduced populations of the Kihansi Spray Toad. The third and fourth largest expenditures were the development of a landscape conservation plan for the Kihansi catchment and the maintenance and expansion of the infrastructure within the Kihansi Gorge. The training of national scientists and technicians and convening of workshops and scientific meetings were the fifth and sixth largest expenditures, followed by the development of a communication strategy for the species recovery program, the seventh largest expenditure.
