Proactive Resilience Social Work Practice
摘要
This chapter describes ways in which practitioners can use the expanded resilience-enhancing stress model, which features a proactive resilience approach to social work practice. A proactive resilience approach to practice suggests that although resilience is a naturally occurring phenomenon, it can be nurtured and promoted within the social work helping process. That is, resilience is a universal response to stress that can be strengthened when clients and constituencies are helped to identify and reduce their risks and learn new protective strategies in the aftermath of adversity. This chapter focuses on resilience as a response to the inordinate stress brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, a critical adverse life event that affected millions of people around the globe. Group narrative interviews illustrate how students learned strengths-based proactive resilience strategies that led them and their families to reengage with education and to enhance their social functioning.
