Optimizing a Sustainable Aviation Ecosystem with Green Hydrogen: An Essential Overview
摘要
The journey towards achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 calls for a profound transformation. The ambition to drastically reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions involves social and technological advancements. The aviation industry is at a critical juncture, facing the dual challenges of reducing its environmental impact while still meeting the growing global demand for air transportation. The objective of this review is to explore the pivotal role of green hydrogen in shaping a more sustainable aviation landscape that, if addressed, could significantly contribute to the mission of achieving net-zero. However, one major challenge with green hydrogen is its high production cost, driven by expensive renewable energy infrastructure and electrolyzer technology. Potential solutions include using low-cost renewable energy sources, scaling up electrolyzer production to benefit from economies of scale, investing in Research and Development for more efficient technology, and developing infrastructure for hydrogen storage, transportation, and distribution to lower costs and improve accessibility.
