The traditional medical education system is expensive from an institutional standpoint. In general, it also remains insufficient to cater to certain practical learning needs of medical students in a scalable and cost-effective manner. In clinical training, the educational value derived from immersive experiences is of paramount importance. The recent advancements in the metaverse technology can offer promising solutions to address these posed challenges, by introducing anatomy lessons with immersion, enhancing economic benefits, and delivering experiential learning to foster a skilled workforce. The metaverse technology can be a sustainable alternative in the scenario of a medical education system as it offers a reduced carbon footprint, and long-term usability and holds alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In this chapter, we provide a convergent understanding of the metaverse-driven medical education (MDME) ecosystem from a sustainability perspective using the Triple Bottom Line approach (TBL). 摘要

This work aims to foster and consolidate towards a holistic premise on the integration of metaverse and medical education, to render sustainable solutions in alignment with sustainable development goals.
