Digital Twin Technology: A Step Towards the Future of Intelligent Electric Vehicles

The aim of this chapter is to discuss how the integration of technologies of sector 4.0, including the concept of Digital Twin and smart material, may help the EV sector improve the sales figure of EV in the Indian market. Digital twins are believed to be a disruptive technology that has the potential to change the face of many markets. The various possibilities of application of digital twin are in aviation, medicine, smart factories, urban planning, etc. With the growth and rapid rise of electric vehicles, the demand for newer and better technology is growing high. Various factors come in the way of widespread use of electric vehicles in India; these include, among others, a general lack of easy access to charging stations and an intricate internal wiring system that makes any necessary repairs and general maintenance an absolute pain and a very expensive one at that. This research has focused on a promising future of EV repair and maintenance in the marketplace of India, which is focused on simplification of the procedure. Various challenges regarding EV repair and maintenance are included in this paper. When these obstacles are met using different kinds of smart materials and Industry 4.0 technology, EVs would make an efficient and seamless transition into the Indian market. It also discusses the future potential of the study in the industry and huge research obstacles faced by the study. The results of this study enabled us to identify various intelligent materials that the electric vehicle industry could employ in their vehicles. These materials will save exorbitant costs from dent and scratch repairs whenever an accident occurs, thus making the overall maintenance of EVs far cheaper. Also, applying Digital Twin to electric vehicle servicing and repair will make the process much more effective by reducing service time, thereby reducing associated expenses at a very significant rate. To reach the point we wanted with this study, we went into great explanation regarding how DT and smart materials operate in an electric vehicle market.
