The WHO indicates an increase in the number of people affected by gastrointestinal and liver diseases. It is estimated that by 2030, around 12 million people will lose their lives to cancer, underscoring the need for accurate and advanced diagnostic methods. Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) is used to diagnose choledocholithiasis (CDL), pancreatic cancer, and other gastrointestinal lesions. However, widespread adoption of this technology has been limited. This research project assessed EUS for the diagnosis of CDL mainly based on the methodology of the AdHopHTA project and with a focus on economic and organizational criteria. Scientific evidence and consultation with experts in the medical and technological fields were taken as sources of information. The results showed that EUS is an effective tool for detecting various gastrointestinal conditions and as an adjunct to CDL. A high investment was evidenced due to the acquisition cost, which requires a demand from patients to reach the break-even point.
