New York played a crucial role in the development of digital animation technologies. Despite its importance as a hub of technical innovation, most attention has been given to California’s Silicon Valley in terms of historical reference. However, places like New York Institute of Technology, Bell Labs, Magi Synthavision, and a host of independent programmers and entrepreneurs based out of New York had as much (if not more) influence on the development of digital animation practices than any place in the world.
