“Peace Through Understanding” was the theme of the 1964–1965 New York World’s Fair. The event, held in the borough of Queens at Flushing-Meadows, introduced millions of spectators to a host of new technologies that would significantly alter the trajectory of the animation world. Among these technologies were affordable film formats that brought animation into schools, homes, and workshops enabling amateurs to experiment with single-frame techniques. Many of these homegrown animators would emerge as a new generation of innovative artists that would influence the stylistic trends of the 1980s.
