Traumatic Injuries of the Pediatric Foot
摘要
Traumatic foot injuries represent about 10% of fractures in pediatric age. Most pediatric foot fractures are treated conservatively, but special attention should be paid to fractures with joint involvement, those involving high-energy mechanisms, and to the proper management of soft tissue. Although the prognosis is favorable, with good functional results, it is necessary to identify those fractures that inherently have a higher risk of developing complications, such as phalangeal fractures with an articular component, fractures of the phalanges of the hallux, physeal fractures of the distal phalanx that extend to the nail matrix, Jones fracture of the fifth metatarsal, Lisfranc injury, and talus and calcaneus fractures.
