Core Treatment Approaches for Long COVID Fatigue
摘要
This chapter examines non-pharmacological approaches to managing Long COVID fatigue, focusing on lifestyle modifications, sleep hygiene, nutrition and hydration, and stress management. It presents evidence-based strategies for each domain, supported by current research and clinical experience in the context of post-viral fatigue syndromes. The text explores pacing and energy conservation techniques to prevent post-exertional malaise, while comprehensively addressing sleep hygiene through specific interventions such as maintaining consistent sleep schedules, optimizing sleep environments, and implementing cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia when necessary. Nutrition and hydration strategies are discussed in detail, emphasizing the role of anti-inflammatory diets, adequate protein intake, medical plants, and proper hydration in managing fatigue symptoms, while highlighting the importance of individualizing nutritional approaches based on patient-specific factors and comorbidities. Stress management techniques are examined and physiological connections between stress and fatigue in Long COVID patients are explored. Concluding with comprehensive clinical reference tables, the chapter provides structured frameworks for assessment, monitoring, and management of Long COVID fatigue. These tables cover various aspects of patient care, from initial assessment and severity classification to validated assessment tools and monitoring protocols, offering healthcare providers practical guidance while emphasizing the importance of individualized care approaches and continuous evaluation of treatment effectiveness.
