The widespread adoption of distributed energy resources, particularly from renewable sources, holds great promise. To effectively manage the variability inherent in such resources, intelligent integration into today’s electrical infrastructure is essential. These intelligent power webs are called as smart grids. They are emerging as a crucial aspect of the power industry. They leverage advanced technologies to address challenges present in conventional electrical networks. Technologies that are both low-carbon and energy-efficient are seen as vital tools in decreasing greenhouse gas emissions and alleviating global warming. The implementation of Smart Grid (SG) technology is poised to revolutionize contemporary businesses by offering efficient solutions to raise the effectiveness, stability, and resilience of existing power scheme. SG facilitates a sustainable power supply over the long term by linking electrical grids with communication infrastructures. However, despite its potential benefits, SGs encounter significant challenges and complexities, particularly in terms of capacity, reliability, and security. However, managing these technologies requires advanced approaches. Presently, the research community is focused on developing more sophisticated information, communication, and automation technologies, as well as control algorithms, to tackle the increased complexity of smart grid systems. Despite their potential benefits, smart grids also provide numerous concerns and challenges that must be handled. Smart grid has different challenges as well as issues related to it.
