Organized social work in Europe is integrated into a broadly networked European civil society, from which the human rights politics of the Council of Europe (CoE) and the social policy arena in the European Union (EU) are intensively lobbied. The civil society networks, namely the CoE’s Conference of International NGOs and the EU’s Social Platform, are discussed and compared with reference to their organizational structures and strategies of interest representation. In both cases findings reveal a fascinating capacity of civil society networks to adapt to the idiosyncratic context of political decision-making in the CoE and the EU.
