Open consultation processes are regularly launched by the European Commission in order to seek the views of citizens and stakeholders when developing policy and legislation. Based on the participation in the public consultation on the European pillar of social rights and in subsequent discussions with experts and operative staff from the responsible Commission’s Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion (DG EMPL) master’s students of social work discuss the relevance of a strengthened European social work initiative and involvement in European social policy-making. They further develop ideas on how social work students throughout Europe could connect and network in favor of student participation in such initiatives.
