Advocacy and Lobbying Vis-à-Vis the EU: The Example of the Churches’ Commission for Migrants in Europe

The Churches’ Commission for Migrants in Europe (CCME) is introduced as sharing the human rights agenda of organized social work in Europe. The organizational structure of the denominationaly broadest NGO of European Churches in EU migration and asylum politics is explained. The CCME mission and political activities are illustrated by concrete examples. The focus lies on the advocacy work of CCME. Churches are important employers and allies of social work in a lot of European countries. The chapter presents examples on how CCME networks and allies with organized social work on the European level. Examples are given on successful advocacy initiatives and learning experiences.
