Advocacy Interest Representation of Eurodiaconia
摘要
The chapter introduces Eurodiaconia as a social policy actor in the European Union. The author describes the pan-European network structure of the Eurodiaconia, its mission and policy goals. A focus lies on the strategic aims and forms of interest representation in the European Union. The organization represents 58 members (churches and diaconal organizations) from 32 countries across the European continent. Examples are given from areas of social inclusion and poverty prevention. The legal and political regulation of the European Union, its impact on social policy issues and its relevance for social service providers and social work becomes evident. The chapter also provides insight into the issue of how Christian faith and solidarity can provide motivation and stability in a changing political environment.
