Plastic-associated chemical molecules have been found to be of particular concern for human and environmental health, owing to their wide range of physicochemical and structural properties. Several pathways including inhalation, ingestion, and dermal contact lead to humans getting exposed to plastic-associated chemical molecules. These chemicals upon entering the human body can lead to a wide range of deleterious effects in human beings, ranging from endocrine disruption to genetic damage in newborns. Chronic exposure to a multitude of such plastic-associated chemicals might also be a significant risk factor for vulnerable community populations. In this chapter, the nature and the likelihood of exposure to these chemicals have been detailed for the benefit of the readers.

摘要
