This Hamiltonian has been used by several authors to describe the low lying collective statesCollective states of positive parity. The quadrupole bosons \(b_{\mu }^{+},\ (-2\le \mu \le 2)\) are of phenomenological type. For example they could be associated to the small and harmonic oscillations of nuclear surface around a spherical equilibrium shape. Throughout this section the index “2” specifying the angular momentum carried by the quadrupole bosons is omitted. It is worth mentioning that among the invariants of fourth order comprised by the model Hamiltonian only five are linearly independent.
