Shifting Paradigms: The Rise of Multi-Criteria-Decision-Making Models Over Bivariate Statistical Approaches in Hazard Risk Assessment
摘要
Multi-criteria-decision-making (MCDM) models have emerged as prominent tools in complex decision-making, thereby offering a structured framework for evaluating multiple conflicting criteria. Contrastingly, bivariate statistical techniques, however effective for analyzing pairwise association, possess limitations in their ability to handle multi-dimensional data. This chapter provides a comprehensive review of the increasing employment of MCDM approaches over the bivariate statistical techniques in various segments of studies. The ScienceDirect repository was utilized to undertake the review process. The findings of the chapter delineate the necessity of shifting towards more robust decision-making platforms to address real-life challenges in diverse scenarios.
