According to many resilience models, such as social support resource theory, social support is a vital resource for coping with adversity. This chapter examines the critical role of social support in navigating adversity, highlighting how the breakdown of interpersonal relationships exacerbates stress and hinders resilience. Strategies for enhancing social support are introduced, including the psychological first aid framework and active constructive responding to foster positive interactions. The chapter concludes with practical guidelines for responding to negative and positive experiences, promoting a balanced approach to social support that bolsters resilience during challenging times.
