Mathematical Notes on the jyācāpa Excerpt
摘要
The iterative approximation techniques described in the Jaipur manuscript’s excerpt of the jyācāpa section of the Siddhāntakaustubha can be used for determining either R sin 1°, denoted 𝑥, or its double Crd 2°, denoted y. As explained in section 1.1, R sin denotes the standard sine function scaled to the given trigonometric radius R (usually 60 in this context), and Crd is the chord of the designated arc in the circle of radius R.
