In this chapter we explore the evolving landscape of historiography in historical organization studies. We highlight the ongoing ‘historic turn’ in the field and its impact on the development of innovative methods and historical styles over the last two decades. To bring the legacy of the reintegration of history and organization theory into focus, we outline six innovative historiographical approaches: archival ethnography, historical reflexivity, ficto-feminism, rhetorical history, ANTi-History, and amodern microhistory. Each approach is situated in the context of the modern, postmodern, and amodern debate. We conclude by encouraging scholars to embrace new developments and turns in historiography. By embracing these approaches, scholars can benefit in sharpening their historiographical practice. The field may prosper by being open to new avenues for historical inquiry that have a heightened propensity for creativity, transparency, and reflexivity.
