The scientific article provides information about a study on enhancing the current information procedures used by a public service organization to citizens. To begin with, a public organization, the County Directorate of Registration of Persons, was presented, as well as the function and position of this kind of organization. The next step in the process involves analyzing the computer system compared to the information system and the typology of computer systems. Current and prospective tendencies based on knowledge were presented in the evolution of computer systems in public organizations. Fundamental concepts were presented regarding the computer system versus the information system. An examination of the computer system in a public organization that offers services to the public was conducted. The typology of computer systems was presented. Current and perspective trends were shown regarding improving the quality of information processes. At the end of the work, conclusions from this research are presented.
