Greening of e-Commerce Logistics by Digitalizing
摘要
The dynamic growth of e-commerce and digital transformation are reshaping logistics, while simultaneously presenting significant environmental challenges. E-commerce logistics is responsible for substantial greenhouse gas emissions, air pollution in cities, excessive energy consumption in warehouses, and the generation of hard-to-recycle packaging waste. This process is further exacerbated by impulsive online shopping and high return rates. Digitalization, combined with the concept of green logistics and the circular economy, offers solutions for sustainable development. Technologies such as IoT, AI, and blockchain support more efficient resource management, optimization of delivery routes, and reduction of CO₂ emissions. They help to reduce the negative impact on the environment. Despite the potential of digital technologies, their implementation requires careful analysis of costs and limitations. A key challenge remains the integration of these solutions in practice, while considering the growing customer expectations regarding environmental responsibility. The digital transformation of logistics is a crucial step toward achieving global sustainability and carbon neutrality goals. This chapter analyzes the role of digitalization in building sustainable development in the e-commerce sector, highlighting both the potential opportunities and risks associated with the implementation of new technologies. To this end, a literature review method was used.
