Interdisciplinary teams are changing the landscape of healthcare due to strong evidence that they improve the quality of care. Patients with substance use disorder and other addictions often have complex psychosocial spiritual needs. It should come as no surprise that individuals isolated in silos cannot care for all of a patient’s needs independently. However, working in a team requires skills in communication, shared leadership, boundary-setting and self-management that are not always included in training for health care careers. In this chapter, we will describe the nature of interdisciplinary teams, outline a published framework for integrated healthcare, recommend behaviors to do and not to do on interdisciplinary teams, and share the experiences of healthcare clinicians about teamwork.

摘要
