This paper explores the issue of using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to boost economic development in Oman, with a view to the effects of incorporating AI technology in different segments of the economy. In AI development, the knowledge of AI in Oman’s economic environment is essential for developing new solutions and achieving sustainable growth. Data was collected through a questionnaire answered by 145 professionals from different fields, such as education, healthcare, finance, and technology, to understand their awareness, adoption and perceived barriers to AI. The survey results indicate that though there is a considerable understanding of the benefits contributed by AI, the main issues, including infrastructure constraints, employee dearth, and ethical questions, still impede AI adoption. Governments and policymakers worldwide need to invest wisely in education, infrastructure, and the proper regulations to fully develop AI capabilities. This research helps identify challenges and opportunities in AI that can strengthen Oman’s economy and encourage innovation. It also offers valuable advice for policymakers and business leaders.
