Groundwater is the primary freshwater resource for many communities. Its quality must be tested before consumption due to potential contamination from various sources, posing significant health risks to humans. The current study aims to assess the groundwater quality for the drinking, irrigation, and health indices in the Palvayi River basin, Andhra Pradesh, India. A total of Twenty-one groundwater samples have been obtained and assessed for various physico-chemical parameters viz. pH, TDS, TH, EC, and cations like Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, K+, anions Cl−, F−, SO42−, HCO3−, NO3−, and Alkalinity. The analyzed data is spatially portrayed using the inverse distance method (IDW). Major findings are elevated levels of fluoride and nitrates (23%) in both pre-and post-monsoon season; water–rock interaction; C2S1–C3S1 (medium–high salinity, low sodium) according to USSL, an excellent to good category for irrigation according to Wilcox and High THI of Children and Infants. However, its quality has to be regularly monitored as few samples exceeded the limits of nitrates and fluoride and some samples are close to the permissible limit for drinking purposes.
