Design of an Innovative Wastewater Treatment System Using Photovoltaic-Hydro System Coupled with Reverse Osmosis Technology: Sustainability and Continuous Improvement
摘要
A new reverse osmosis membrane (RO) design has been implemented for wastewater treatment in Al Marj, Libya, to address the issue of sewage water forming ponds due to a malfunction in an old station. The system recycles wastewater into a sewage pond, providing 3,500–10,500 m3/day of fresh water. Fresh water is anticipated to provide approximately 55,000 people in an arid region with essential services. The solar photovoltaic (PV) system will be the main energy source for the reverse osmosis process, and a hydropower system will be configured for energy recovery. The total water price is around $0.65/m3, and the specific energy consumption is not exceeding 4 kWh/m3.
