In the seventh week, all essential anatomical structures of the face, or better the head region, are already well recognizable. The orofacial muscles are the first musculature to be formed in the human body. At least the attachments are already clearly defined, well recognizable, the final position and location will be reached only with about the 14th week. The origin and attachment are also not yet clearly defined. Because of the still clearly pronounced forward flexion of the head, the parts of the viscerocranium are still relatively little extended vertically. This becomes apparent in the overview image of the histological section (Fig. 6.1) and in the 3D reconstruction (see Fig. 6.2).
