In this preparation, we can first of all see very clearly how the interaction between the dental primordia and the peridental bone is configured: It is indeed the case that the interdental bone forms as an active formation. This is shown by the areas marked in red, which have been identified as appositional zones in the corresponding histological sections. This concerns the lower jaw and also the upper jaw (Fig. 26.1).
