In this stage of development, the extensions of the bony structures have gained more size. The expansion of the maxilla has increased. Thus, its frontal process has become higher, laterally it has also extended further, so that it has neared the zygomatic arch up to about 250 μm. The mandible now also shows the first signs of a coronoid process although a condylar process is not yet visible (Figs. 17.1, 17.2, 17.3, 17.4, and 17.5).
