Building Resilience in Cancer Patients and Their Families with Psychodrama

This chapter provides information on the use of psychodrama to support the psychological resilience of patients with cancer, their families, and caregivers. First, the meaning and impact of cancer on the patient and family are discussed in terms of family systems theory, and psychological resilience is defined according to this theoretical perspective. Next, the stages of psychodrama group therapy and how the techniques used contribute to psychological resilience in therapy for patients with cancer and their families are explained, emphasizing the common features of psychological resilience and psychodrama. Finally, the use and effects of specific psychodrama techniques are evaluated.
