Adoption of Positive Spirituality and Religiosity to Strengthen the Well-being of Students in Universities in Uganda

This chapter explores the intersection of positive psychology, spirituality, and religiosity in enhancing the well-being of university students in Uganda. The chapter examines the influence of spirituality and religiosity in fostering students’ well-being in universities in Uganda because of little attention and scholarly work on the area. It begins by defining key concepts and discussing various forms of spirituality and religiosity. The chapter then introduces the Spiritual Well-being Theory, which emphasizes the importance of spiritual health in overall well-being. A comprehensive review of literature highlights the benefits of positive spirituality and religiosity, including improved mental health, resilience, and academic performance. Finally, the chapter outlines implications for clinicians and practitioners in higher education, emphasizing the need for supportive environments that foster spiritual well-being.
