Ultrasonography has become a popular method in regional anesthesia, and it is used in chronic pain interventions, including the musculoskeletal system, neuraxial, and peripheric neural structures. Ultrasound allows direct visualization of the target tissue structures, needle placement, and medical administration without radiation exposure. With sonography guidance, nerve blocks in the head and neck are useful techniques in pain management. Anatomy, sonoanatomy, and the usage of ultrasound with the right transducer (frequency) and different settings for the best visualization of the target tissues are important tools for pain physicians to learn.
