The common orthopedic conditions involved in hEDS/HSD are summarized, providing information on the pathophysiology, presentation, assessment, and treatment (when available) of the associated conditions. Specific conditions reflect cervical spine and organ involvement in EDS and hypermobility, and include: craniocervical instability, Chiari malformation, atlanto-axial subluxation, segmental kyphosis, scoliosis, kyphoscoliotic Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, tethered cord syndrome, spondylolysis, spondylolisthesis, and spontaneous cerebrospinal fluid leaks. The effects of collagen malformation are highlighted in both the anatomy and dysfunction of these conditions that often present in EDS/hypermobile patients.
