LifeCharger (LC) SynCare Ecosystem is a user-centric platform based upon the LC mobile App, that represents the end-user front-end, allowing to self-managing therapies, symptoms, controlling physiological parameters, and organizing documents, as well as the delivery of digital health & wellness services. Three use cases were designed to evaluate the usability of LC App: 1) the app used in its basic functions, i.e. without services activated; 2) used with one service activated, but without receiving personalized contents and feedback; 3) used with one service activated, receiving personalized contents and feedback for the patient. In this preliminary study, the usability of first use case was evaluated after 7 days of app use, without external interventions and additional contents. For the evaluation, the user version of Mobile Application Rating Scale (uMARS) was utilized, assessing the dimensions of engagement, functionality, aesthetics, information, subjective quality, and perceived impact, by a 5-point scale. From February to December 2023, ten volunteers were recruited, but only seven began the study (n = 7). As a result, the overall mean uMARS score, representing the objective quality, was 3.79 ± 0.45 (median = 4). Singularly, the Engagement, Functionality, and Information objective subscales showed high and similar values (mean 3.86 ± 0.87, 3.86 ± 0.91, and 3.89 ± 1.11, respectively) while Aesthetics scored lower (3.57 ± 0.90). The subjective quality subscale was 3.68 ± 1.10, while the perceived impact subscale was the lowest (3.33 ± 1.44). Such preliminary insights will serve as a baseline for future comparisons with the two additional use cases, designed to further evaluate the app’s performance when it is enriched with health and wellness services.
