Trigger thumb, also known as stenosing tenosynovitis of the thumb, is a condition characterized by pain, nodules, and a locking sensation during thumb movement. It is caused by factors such as repetitive use, inflammation, and anatomical variations leading to thickening of the A1 pulley. Ultrasound imaging is crucial for diagnosing trigger thumb, revealing thickening of the pulley and signs of inflammation. Diagnosis of trigger thumb typically involves clinical examination and imaging studies like ultrasound. Surgical release of the A1 pulley is the most common procedure, necessitating precise anatomical knowledge to ensure success and avoid nerve injury. Percutaneous release and ultrasound-guided techniques have gained popularity due to their safety and effectiveness, offering minimal invasiveness and faster recovery times. We describe here a novel technique of ultrasound-guided release of the thumb trigger finger.
