Vaccine hesitancy poses a significant challenge to public health, hindering efforts to control infectious diseases and undermining the efficacy of established immunization programs. This chapter explores some of the medical barriers that contribute to vaccine reluctance, which include the spread of misinformation, concerns about vaccine ingredients and side effects, and challenges related to accessibility. These arising concerns are often exacerbated by misinterpretations of scientific data and a lack of knowledge of the rigorous development and regulatory processes governing vaccine approval. By addressing these medical barriers to vaccination, healthcare providers can enhance vaccination rates and safeguard public health. A multifaceted approach that includes clear communication, trust-building, and community engagement is essential to effectively tackle these barriers.
