Introduction and Reading Information
摘要
In this book, we provide an overview of the most important synthetic dyes and dye classes developed and used in the second half of the nineteenth century up to the First World War. Some of these dyes had already been developed much earlier and many of them were also used after the First World War, not only as textile dyes, but also occasionally as organic pigments in paints, to stain furniture and to colour paper: for example, crêpe paper [1]. However, in this book we focus mainly on the use of synthetic colourants as textile dyes, although some other applications will be mentioned as well.
