Ocular trauma is a significant concern in pediatric sports, particularly in soccer (referred to as football outside of the United States), where protective eyewear is rarely used. This chapter examines the epidemiology, mechanisms, and severity of eye injuries among pediatric soccer players. We reviewed cases of ocular injuries reported in emergency departments and sports clinics, identifying common patterns and underlying risk factors. Results revealed that blunt trauma from ball impact or collisions with other players accounted for most injuries, including contusions, corneal abrasions, and orbital fractures. The absence of protective eyewear correlated with increased injury severity. While most injuries were minor, a notable subset required surgical intervention. Our findings highlight the need for increased awareness and prevention strategies, including proper coaching techniques, enforcement of safety guidelines, and promotion of protective eyewear. Implementing these measures could significantly reduce the risk of ocular injuries and ensure safer sports participation for children.
